How Are We Sustainable? Our Eco-Friendly Promise & Ethical Values

As most of you know, here at Away That Day we are more than just a swimwear brand! We are part of an incredible movement, playing our role towards a more sustainable future. (The way it should be right?!) Other than you of course, our ethical values are our number 1 priority - All the way from the design process, to production, to your door step. <3

 

If you already have one of our gorgeous suits, you know that quality is also at the very top of our list - Remaining true to our ethical values and making sure you can wear your bikini year after year *whilst feelings amazing in it* is what we will always make sure to achieve.

OUR FABRIC

During the development of Away That Day, we researched high and low (literally) to make sure the material we use is only the very best and most sustainable solution for our collections. We only use recycled and regenerated nylon made from ocean plastic, fishing nets and waste scraps. This is then made into a yarn called Econyl, and from this, a luxurious fabric is created which you can feel on every suit we make. All of this has been made possible by non-profit organisation, Carvico - They are helping to transform the clothing industry into a sustainable and eco-friendly cycle.

Divers working hard to get unwanted plastics and fishing nets out of our ocean...

With the help of ghostdivingorg divers and healthyseas, they recover waste from our ocean that is transformed into ECONYL ® regenerated Nylon - This material is then used for every Away That Day swimsuit!  ♻️👙

PACKAGING

We also care about how your swims get you... That's why we only use 100% biodegradable packaging that is made from a starch-based, compostable material. Once our packaging is in your hands, it gives you the chance to play your part in our community.   

 Below are 3 steps on how to close the cycle by disposing of your packaging properly:

1. Remove any adhesives from your compostable mailer
2. Compost it- If you have a home compost in your garden, you can stick your compostable mailer straight on the heap.
3. No compost heap? No worries! Why not start one? Sites like Eartheasy and Garden know how have some great guides on how to easily start your own compost heap. Alternately see whether there is a composting pick-up service or community compost heap in your area!

ONE TREE PLANTED

But it doesn't just stop there... For every order, we are planting one tree with our reforestation partner ONE TREE PLANTED - A non-profit environmental charity on a mission for global reforestation. They plant trees all around the world where our planet needs them most. 

PRODUCTION

Lastly, every beautiful AWAY THAT DAY bikini is ethically made by our wonderful family-run manufacturer in Bali, along with our production team in London to ensure our workspaces and working hours always remain ethical. We have such a beautiful bond with our teams across the world and they all play a very important part in making your suit come to life!
